Absolutely love our new SOBU furniture!! Recently upgraded a few big items around our apartment, and after browsing all the big retailers in the area (Design Within Reach, Blu Dot, Room & Board, etc.) we stumbled on the Baker Tolv sofa and Radhi rug from SOBU.
Beautiful, bespoke, and reasonably priced compared to the stores mentioned above. Completely transformed our space—bringing a modern and elevated aesthetic while still being warm and functional.
If you love Scandinavian design, California modernism, Sea Ranch inspired design, etc. you will love SOBU. Wish we could furnish our entire home from here (we eventually might)!

Absolutely LOVE this store!! One of the few actual furniture stores still around that isn't part of a giant chain selling plastic tables. The furniture is the real deal and sooo beautiful and comfortable!
We wanted a live-edge dining table and matching chairs. We waited and waited for the right slab and they let us look each time until the one for us popped up. They even modified the slab to fit our dining room perfectly.
Everyone from the folks in the store to the warehouse manager to the owners were always super-helpful. Thank you to everyone at SOBU!

I have bought a number of Sobu pieces over the years (couch, side table, pendant light, and most recently dining chairs) and adore all of them! While the staff have always been very helpful, I live a little further away now so tend to just order online because I know which pieces I want and their delivery has been speedy and fantastic. Their pieces are incredibly well-made and beautiful and are quietly rugged enough for daily use without showing barely any wear, and strike the balance I love between modern and nostalgic. It's amazing to find a local store that's my go-to for nearly all furniture and homeware I'm looking for, with the added bonus of avoiding big box retailers!

SOBU is one of my favorite home decor stores in the Bay Area. They consistently curate fantastic art and hand-crafted pieces, many from local artists and woodworkers.
We discovered SOBU because we were looking for local stores carrying a specific Ethnicraft bench. We decided to purchase the bench through them because they were so responsive and easy to work with. We are extremely happy with both the bench itself and services we received from SOBU.
Since our first purchase, we have made the hour drive from the Peninsula several times to visit the SOBU showroom. Seeing their new art and featured pieces alone has made the drive worth it. SOBU consistently carries so many pieces we would love to have in our home.
In general, their staff is super helpful. Recently, we showed up to the store looking for bonus seating for our living room and Monique took a lot of time in showing us possible options. Thanks to Monique, we decided on a dining stool we never would have thought of on our own. And even though the specific one we wanted was not available, Hannah worked with us on an order the next day. We are very excited for our second SOBU piece!

Love Sobu so much that our friends think we somehow share in the ownership structure ha! We particularly love the oak pieces and have had a few for quite a long time but their rug collection is also very nice and we have two. Even though we've moved out of Oakland we still come visit whenever we are in town and regularly order to LA where we currently live. So glad to have discovered this store many years ago when we were living there and I think folks in other cities are missing out if they haven't discovered it too. I can't wait to buy my next piece - we have like 3 that were just waiting on a sale to buy :-)

We love working with SOBU whenever we have an opportunity. Their furniture is stunning, and the customer service is amazing. We love that they will sell off the floor or have access to a local warehouse with additional goods. In this day and age, it makes such a difference to have a physical store to visit where you can touch and feel items. We've discovered so many great local artists at their events. More than anything, though, it's their team that makes the difference. Everyone at Sobu is a joy to work with!

I love this store! It's nice getting furniture made from wood, instead of veneers, like at the larger stores. I also like supporting independent retailers and designers - the pieces are more original and the quality is better. I have purchased many items over the years and have been happy with all of them. The staff is super friendly and helpful and tries to customize items for you when possible. Overall, I highly recommend this shop!

We are huge fans of SOBU Oakland. Over the years we have purchased a beautiful walnut live edge dining table, live edge bench and chairs as well as the Mellow sofa and stools from Ethnicraft for our kitchen island. The quality and craftsmanship of the furniture and accessories are unsurpassed. We cannot recommend SOBU more highly for beautiful pieces that will enhance our home for a lifetime all curated and delivered with excellent customer service.
